Italian machinery maker to expand, roll out new technologyWritten by admin , March 1st, 2016 // Technology
Solbiate, Italy — Rubber and plastics machinery manufacturer Rodolfo Comerio is expanding, having recently secured a series of new projects — including one to manufacture two of the biggest calendars in the world.
In response, the North Italy-based company is planning to build a second plant to meet new projects commissioned in early 2016, combined with those from last year.
Rodolfo Comerio will “build in the very next future a new production plant that will be added to its existing one,” the company said in a statement detailing its achievements since it was founded in 1878.
Alongside the expansion, the company said its research and development department is finalizing a new calendaring technology, intended for tire production and other rubber and PVC applications. The company will be at K 2016, Hall 16, B54. The company said the new technology will be a “complete revolution in the calendaring sector,” but company officials remain mum about the innovation.
The company’s capabilities are further highlighted by a current project to build two of the largest calendars ever built in the world: one with four rolls and another with five rolls.
The specified dimensions include: 870 millimetre rolls diameter; 5,000 mm rolls working width; 8 meters in length of each roll including its journals; and 30 metric tons total weight of each roll.
These two calendars will be able to produce materials having less than 80 μm thickness and are intended for involving the lamination of thermoplastics-based materials
